Ellis Ernest Albert TAYLOR, son of George TAYLOR (c. 1849-c. 1918) and Rebecca GREENE (c. 1856- ), was born on 23rd January 1876 in Redgrave, Suffolk and was baptised there on 24th June 1877. Ellis was attested on 6th June 1916 and placed on the Army Reserve the next day. On 28th July 1916 Ellis was assigned to the Depot Co., Queen’s (Royal West Surrey) Regiment, Private 29197, and mobilised the following day. Ellis transferred to the R.A.M.C. D Co., 210th London Field Ambulance Bn., ser. no. 521026. Ellis was transferred on 6th December 1917 to 421st Agriculture Company, Labour Corps, Warrington, ser. no, 495496. He was wounded/injured in Blackpool on 15th December 1917; no details of what occured have been found, but he was back on duty on the 18th. He was on the Absent Voters List for North Lopham in 1919 - 1172, Taylor, Ellis Ernest Albert, “Bell” Inn, North Lopham, 3976. He was demobbed on 1st June 1919 and transferred to the Class “Z” Army Reserve, expecting to return to The Bell Inn, North Lopham. He died in 1946 in North Lopham and was buried there on 5th October, age 70 years.
